The Opportunity:
Key Job Functions:
- Perform a variety of horticultural and grounds maintenance tasks such as
- Clean and maintain grounds, including spring cleanup
- Prepare planting beds and maintains perennials
- Assist in planning, growing, monitoring, fertilizing and assessing the annual bedding crop
- Operate equipment, such as trailers, trucks, skid steers, lawn mower, etc.
- Support waste management on Campus by maintaining garbage disposal bin
- Ensure best practices and standards are followed according to the procedures developed.
- Ensure that work is properly completed and related documentation is processed properly.
- Work to provide a safe environment on Olds College campus
- Perform other related duties as required
Education/Experience/Skills/Knowledge Required:
- Possess a minimum of a Class 5 Motor Vehicle Operator's License
- Possess knowledge of grounds equipment
- Ability to work independently and / or as a member of a team and willing to accept direction
- Ability to adopt new technology and practices
- Excellent customer service skills
Working Conditions:
- Physically fit and ability to lift up to 50lbs and perform repetitive physical work.
- Able to work in adverse weather conditions
Conditions of Employment:
- Current Criminal Reference check that is free of any offenses.
- Must respect and actively promote health and safety policies.
- You must provide and wear CSA approved footwear and and successfully complete the provided WHMIS certification training.
- Successful candidates must be secondary or post-secondary students prior to and/or immediately following their work period.
Compensation is $15.00 to $16.00 per hour plus an additional 14% in lieu of vacation and named statutory holidays.
