About Our Opportunity


Over a 16-week work term the employee will support the Museum’s Events and Promotions Officer. They will be involved in planning promotions, writing about Museum Events, programs, and exhibits for publicity, social media, MOI website, and community partners. They will support the museum’s Marketing and Events Officer in facilitating and staffing a wide variety of events and programs throughout the summer, including major initiatives with a special 2024 museum exhibit. You will also support the Reception desk, welcoming visitors and processing admissions and gift shop sales

Qualifications and Experience


To be successful in this role, the candidate must be a student enrolled in a post-secondary institution having preferably completed at least two years of study. Students enrolled in business, marketing, public relations, tourism, or history and arts related fields would be preferable. Must be registered in the Young Canada Works (YCW) online candidate inventory (https://young-canada-works.canada.ca) and meet the eligibility criteria of the program.
Good communication and organizational skills are required. Computer proficiency with common software and web search is required. Interpersonal and problem-solving skills are needed and the ability to work effectively in a team environment and with a variety of community partners and members of the public.

Working Conditions


Physical requirements include standing, walking, and moving around for extended periods of time, exposure to dust, and the use of common cleaning fluids.
Shifts include: working weekend, evening and holidays

Additional Information

  • Must be returning to school in the Fall of 2024.
  • Fluency in English is a requirement. Some fluency in French would be considered an asset.
  • The successful candidate must pass appropriate background checks (criminal record and child abuse registry).
  • Filling the position is based upon receiving funding approval from Young Canada Works.

Pay Grade:HOURLY

Salary Range:$18.00 Hourly
