Artemis Gold received its BC Mines Act permit for Blackwater Mine in March 2023 enabling the project to move into major works construction.
Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, the Technical Services Superintendent is responsible for the management, supervision, and direct day to day activities of engineering, surveying and geology. This includes safety and development of direct and indirect reports, delivery of mine planning, drill and blast design, geotechnical and survey functions.
- Demonstrate effective safety leadership by addressing and enforcing BW Golds safety standards, procedures, and safety systems.
- Provide leadership and direction to others within the engineering section.
- Provide technical assistance with decision making as appropriate.
- Ensure behaviors are consistent to enhance the cooperation in between internal departments including engineering, geology, maintenance, environment, safety, etc.
- Ensure that all that is conveyed to short term engineering is up to date.
- Analyze and review the system and procedures of work that can be applied across operations.
- Provide data for financial accrual on monthly basis.
- Provide analysis data for controlling progress of target achievement.
- Ensure behaviors are consistent to enhance the cooperation between Mining Operation and Mine Engineering
- Develop project plans including resource allocation, risk management, and progress tracking.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide professional development opportunities.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators, recommending and implementing improvements as needed.
- Assist Mining Operation and other departments with ideas and suggestions to meet business objectives when required.
- A degree in a mining or geoscience related field, such as Mining Engineering, Geology, Geotechnical Engineering or Survey required.
- Minimum 7 years on site, open pit mining operations experience in technical and or operational roles.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and managing teams to deliver results.
- Strong project management stills with a track record of successful project delivery.
- In-depth knowledge of mining software and tools.
- Strong leadership qualities and the ability to manage and lead a technical team effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey technical information to diverse audiences.
- The ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, present findings, and communicate with stakeholders is crucial.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work at a remote location camp on a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off rotation.
- Ability to maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shift.
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
