The Quinte Detention Centre is seeking a keen administrative professional with experience handling highly confidential information and demonstrated diplomacy to fill the position of Superintendent's Secretary.

What can I expect to do in this role?

  • Open, screen and distribute mail.
  • Record, type and distributing institutional committee meeting minutes.
  • Transcribe and type a variety of confidential material such as memoranda, letters, directives, reports, appraisals, plans, etc.
  • Maintain administrative filing system of confidential correspondence and reports.
  • Obtain and compile statistical data for reports.
  • Respond to a variety of inquiries and questions from employees and managers.
  • Schedule meetings and appointments.


How do I qualify?

Administrative Knowledge and Experience

  • You have knowledge and experience in office administration in order to perform complex clerical tasks and provide administrative support.
  • You have experience with records keeping and file management in order to maintain a filing system for the office.
  • You have demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality when working with sensitive information.


Organizational and Time Management Skills

  • You work well independently and can organize, co-ordinate, and complete work within deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • You have experience coordinating management calendars and schedules.


Communication and Interpersonal Skills

  • You can respond to inquiries from a variety of stakeholders (i.e. staff, management, corporate services, etc.).
  • You have demonstrated discretion, tact and diplomacy.
  • You have well developed written communication skills to compose a variety of correspondence (i.e. meeting minutes, memoranda, letters and emails).


Computer Skills

  • You are proficient with computer software and applications (i.e. Word, Excel, email, etc.) to prepare correspondence, charts and reports.
  • You have excellent keyboarding skills to accurately input data.


Analytical Skills

  • You have demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy when reviewing documents for completeness.
  • You can retrieve and compile information for reports.

    Employees who do not provide proof of full vaccination will be deemed ‘not vaccinated' under the Employer's policy and will be required to attend a vaccine education program, as determined by the Employer. Employees who are not vaccinated under the policy with a valid medical exemption will not be required to attend a vaccine education program. All employees working in congregate living settings must undergo regular rapid antigen testing, regardless of vaccination status.
