Artemis Gold received its BC Mines Act permit for Blackwater Mine in March 2023 enabling the project to move into major works construction.
Reporting to the Superintendent – Mining, the Mining Supervisor provides leadership and direction to mine employees in the safe achievement of mining and production targets as forecasted. They also assist in the development of mine employees and the efficient operation of the mine.
- Demonstrate effective safety leadership by addressing and enforcing BW Golds safety standards, procedures, and safety systems.
- Ensure that mining production targets, schedules and priorities for the mining teams are achieved.
- Plan, organize and control mine activities.
- Ensure that the mine produces at the lowest possible cost while achieving and exceeding planned targets.
- Ensure mining teams are informed of priorities and any changes.
- Maintain safety and environmental systems consistent with business policies.
- Regularly tour and inspect the mine to identify and address any production, safety, equipment, maintenance or personnel issues.
- Provide assistance in the hiring of mine employees.
- Ensure employees have a clear understanding of work objectives and expectations of performance levels.
- Ensure that direct reports are provided with the training required for their future needs.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports.
- Complete all time entry, vacation request and scheduling for direct reports.
- Valid BC Mine Supervisor Certificate required.
- Valid BC Shiftboss Certificate required.
- Minimum 5 years open pit mining supervisory experience leading teams of over 30.
- Previous experience in operating various equipment preferred.
- Experience reading and interpreting mine plans.
- Solid working knowledge of mining procedures.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work at a remote location camp on a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off rotation
- Comfortable working and living in close quarters with the team
- Ability to maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shift
