Position Summary:
The Supervisor of Resident Care (SRC) position directly reports to the Administrator as part of the management team. The SRC is responsible for the overall management and supervision of Resident Care within our Residential Care Facility. This includes ensuring facility goals and objectives are supported and the client’s needs are met in accordance with the Seniors and Long Term Care program requirements and Licensing Standards. This includes overseeing daily employee performance and completion of duties, scheduling, purchasing inventory and submitting payroll. The SRC will also provide liaison services between residents and doctors and will work with external agencies to oversee the delivery of Resident Care and support care needs. The SRC will ensure staff understanding and adherence to Resident Care plans, company policies and licensing standards. Victoria Park Guest House is a Licensed Residential Care Facility under the department of Seniors and Long Term Care.
Responsibilities:
Program and Policy Oversight
· Provides regular mentoring and supervision to staff
- Reviews, drafts and updates company policies and procedures
· Facilitates the execution of program framework per company policy and procedures
· Ensures staff compliance and awareness of facility policies
· Participates in admission and discharge of clients to facility
· In conjunction with appropriate parties, completes resident assessments after admission
· Conducts performance appraisals for all employees
· Addresses issues / concerns in collaboration with Administrator
· Acts as liaison between Victoria Park Guest House and the Medical Director
· Oversees staffing, ensuring that progressive discipline processes are complied with
· Oversees departmental goal setting in line with Victoria Parks vision and mission of quality person centred care.
· Monitors and maintains resident and facility spending money
· Oversees care delivery
· Oversees direction of workflow on the floor providing direct feedback or instruction to staff
· Provides feedback on daily workflow to the administrator
· Identifies staff development needs and coordinates training, instructs staff on policies and procedures
· Ensures staff are using Personal Protective Equipment and adhering to OH&S best practices
· Promotes workplace safety
· Oversees collection, maintenance, and storage of Resident data and records in accordance with respective legislation.
· Assists in overseeing existing company committees (OH&S, Care Conferences, labor management and etc.)
· Promotes and applies evidence-based practice
· Shares best practices to the community at large
Human Resources Management
· Helps direct and oversee day to day operations including scheduling
- Assists with hiring new employees
· Provides training, facilitates communication, and acts as HR lead for new hires, including onboarding, training, orientation and review of company policy
· Oversees the attendance management program for front line staff
- Provides ongoing coaching sessions and follows appropriate progressive discipline principals
Safety Framework Development
· Participates in the development and completion of safety framework, also conducts facility safety checks.
· Participates in OH&S Committee
Qualifications:
· Has a degree in Health Care Administration or relevant post secondary certificates in business management.
· An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Skills Needed:
· Actively demonstrates the application of LEADS and LEAN framework in professional development and practice
· Must have the welfare of Residents as the core motivator for service delivery
· Must be well versed in dealing with people with various backgrounds and personalities
· Must have a strong understanding and advocacy of best practices in healthcare
· Must have proven track record of thinking outside the box, promoting quality initiatives and implementing programs and services
· Must have the ability to deal with complex situations and make sound recommendations
· Has the ability to network and develop strong relationship with appropriate internal / external organizations
· Must have strong oral and written communication skills specifically around program development and policy language
· Strong conflict resolution skills

Salary: $55,000.00-$58,000.00 per year
