The Opportunity

As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will deliver Supplier Quality Engineering expertise and leadership for products sourced and manufactured by Medicom. You will develop, execute, and monitor Supplier Quality, supplier corrective action, inspection, and testing plans. You will collaborate directly with suppliers and regional Medicom teams to ensure preparedness of key suppliers for audits and compliance evaluations. You will collaborate with stakeholders to provide support for released products, evaluate product field performance and reliability, implement corrective actions, and plans for continuous process improvement.

What you will do
  • Build and grow global Supplier Quality management program;
  • Lead supplier evaluation, qualification, and approval activities, including coordination and preparation for supplier audits;
  • Own and drive supplier corrective action process, including development of SCAR plans and verification of effectiveness;
  • Evaluate and communicate quality issues to suppliers;
  • Apply sound, systematic problem-solving methodologies in identifying, prioritizing, and resolving Supplier Quality issues;
  • Act as owner and continuous improvement driver of first article, receiving, in-process and final inspection and testing outcomes for sourced products;
  • Collaborate closely with Sourcing, Operations and Supply Chain functional teams to deliver Supplier Quality Engineering and management results that ensure sourced products conform to both quality/regulatory compliance and business requirements;
  • Create incoming inspection and quality plans, sampling methods and test methods to ensure component and product conformance to requirements;
  • Establish robust measures for Supplier Quality performance, monitor results regularly and initiate appropriate actions to continually improve Supplier Quality performance;
  • Review and approve supplier manufacturing process validations and/or controls to ensure compliance with established specifications and compliance requirements;
  • Resolve non-conformances related to sourced materials and finished products, participate in Material Review Board (MRB) to review, and disposition nonconformities and to drive supplier corrective actions;
  • Review and approve controlled documentation change requests;
  • Compile operational and Supplier Quality metrics for regular review to trend, recommend, and implement corrective actions and appropriate follow-up, when necessary;
  • Lead and manage other and other Operational Quality continuous improvement projects as assigned.
What you will bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering;
  • Member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec;
  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience in Supplier Quality Engineering, Quality Engineering, product lifecycle/sustainment engineering of medical devices or equivalent technical discipline;
  • Experience in project management and coordination of multiple parallel tasks and projects;
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations in the areas of FDA medical device QSR, Canada CMDR and ISO 13485;
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required by business objectives, anticipated to be less than 20% of-time
  • Master’s degree and/or professional certification in scientific, engineering related technical discipline is a plus.
