Supplier Quality Engineering

POSITION SUMMARY
This position will be responsible for the development, training, execution & maintenance of all local Supplier Quality processes.  This can include incoming inspection, supplier corrective action, investigations and issues, supplier cost recovery, supplier accumulation processes, material handling processes & control of non-conforming material (quarantine processes).  
This will be done for the purpose of ensuring that incoming materials supplied by a company meet specified quality standards.   You will, with Quality team support, inspect incoming materials to ensure they meet all required specifications, work directly with suppliers to improve their supplied materials, as well support internal manufacturing team investigations to determine if supplier material performance within Vista manufacturing is as expected.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

-Development & coach teach mentor of local policies and procedures for Supplier Quality with the main emphasis on non-conforming material processes.
-Direct interaction & collaboration with internal & external plant departments such as Quality, Supplier Quality, Procurement, Logistics and Manufacturing.
-Support structured Root-Cause Problem Solving (RCPS), documenting the results and following up on execution and effectiveness on incoming material as well as Vista manufacturing processes
-Be actively and productively involved with cross-functional teams as a representative of Manufacturing and Quality functions.
-Create and follow up with supplier corrective action requests.
-Ability to lead supplier and Vista manufacturing interaction from containment to cost recovery activities.  This can include assessment of incoming material performance, supplier facility visits supporting corrective action requests and verifications, information and supplier relationship development.
-Work closely with Vista Quality team in an effort to assess quality and ensure incoming material is free from defects and in compliance with all manufacturing specifications and government standards.
-Able to communicate with all levels of management within Vista.
 
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED

-Post-Secondary in Engineering or equivalent
-5+ years of experience in a Manufacturing environment
-Common sense and a sense of urgency, assertive & motivated for success.
-Accountable and willing to hold peers accountable.
-A high level of attention to detail with an aspiration to deliver technical excellence.
-Excellent analytical & problem-solving skills with an understanding of manufacturing processes.
-Experience with problem solving tools such as Fishbone, 5Why, Is/Is not, Red X, Green Belt.
-Knowledge of various quality control and statistical methods, techniques, or systems such as sampling and inspection, Process Failure Mode & Effects, Control plans, measurement system analysis.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-Have a passion for excellence in people, processes and analytics.
-Good computer skills with ability to learn with high experience with traditional Microsoft software (excel, word, outlook)
-Ability to travel if required.
