The Role

Supply Chain Analyst

Employment: Full Time – Staff Position or Contract Position, dependent on successful candidate
Department: Health & Safety and Supply Chain
Reporting to the Manager, Health & Safety and Supply Chain
Location: Calgary, Alberta

Reporting to the Manager, Health & Safety and Supply Chain, this role will be support the Supply Chain (SCM) function at Obsidian Energy and requires an individual that can is highly analytical and can self-manage, multi-task and function well in a busy and demanding environment. This Supply Chain Analyst role will support all operational departments and be required to perform analytics, optimize vendor/contractor compliance within a database, track and optimize invoicing and spend, run and/or support bids for services and supply, as well as other tasks as they arise. This role requires an individual with a SCM background with experience working in a small or single person team.

Responsibilities

Duties include the following, but are not limited to:

Cost Tracking and Spend Analysis:

  • Compile and analyze quarterly spend data and ensure the work plan is still on track.
  • Develop and maintain PriceBook tracking for vendors within OpenInvoice system.
  • Generate reports out of OpenInvoice to identify deviation from PriceBook, and investigation and correct the price discrepancies.

Vendor Management:

  • Own and maintain approved vendor requirements, including Obsidian Energy’s vendor compliance software, and ensure that vendors list is kept up to date.
  • Support the maintenance of an Indigenous Business Registry.
  • Set up new vendors including an understanding of insurance requirements, safety requirements and negotiation of master service agreement/terms & conditions as required.

Category Management & Strategic Sourcing:

  • Provide support for and/or manage request for proposal (RFP) bid processes to secure materials and services for projects and term work, including coordinating multiple bids and normalizing data to decide on award.
  • Provide analysis and tracking to manage vendor compliance to bid pricing across contract terms.
  • Complete market surveys and research to ensure pricing is competitive across categories and regions.
  • Both independently and with existing suppliers, review macro environment factors to identify and address potential threats to supply and/or pricing.

Materials Management:

  • Provide tracking and analytical support to utilize OBE owned surplus equipment in the most cost-effective way.
  • Work with field operations to ensure accuracy of inventory; review inventory lists for potential status updates and keep system up to date with equipment status changes.
  • Provide tracking and analytical support for the purchasing and sale of tubing and sucker rods as required.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Supply Chain experience with a strong emphasis on analytical skills
  • Undergraduate degree in an appropriate discipline
  • Diverse knowledge of several Supply Chain categories
  • Previous experience with bids, contracts, and vendor management in Alberta
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Preference for working with a high degree of autonomy and accountability
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with all levels of staff
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and demonstrated safe driving record (driver abstract required)
