Location:This position is intended to be based out of Caribou, NS but also requires visits to vessels, dock facilities and terminals on all Bay and Northumberland Ferries routes. Some flexibility on location may be extended to the right candidate.

Summary: Northumberland Ferries Limited and Bay Ferries Limited, regional leaders in the transportation industry, are seeking a Supply Chain Manager to join our team. The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for the process management, oversight and inventory of all deliveries, consumables and spare parts in Bay and Northumberland Ferries.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop and enforce the inventory receiving and stores management process at NFL & BFL.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee a new inventory management system/tool.
  • Train terminal staff of process, procedures, and tools as they are brought online.
  • Oversee product storage, handling, and distribution.
  • Work with procurement to source right products and to define, monitor and evaluate Supply Chain processes and supplier performance to identify and improve efficiencies and areas of challenge.
  • Oversee and ensure the proper acceptance of all products, materials, and supplies by Bay and Northumberland Ferries, the receipt into the procurement system, and inserting them into the inventory system on arrival.
  • Collaborate and communicate with vessels to ensure received orders and requested supplies are forwarded to the appropriate location/end user, for verification.
  • Maintain an accurate log of daily moves of inventory, between terminals and vessels with accurate counts.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory, placing restock requisition in inventory system.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Accreditation in relation to Supply Chain/inventory management.
  • 5+ years’ experience in building, operating, and/or maintaining computerized inventory systems.
  • Ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment requiring prioritization and adaptation.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Professional accreditation in Supply Chain or logistics field an asset.
  • Knowledge of the marine industry is an asset.
  • Demonstrated skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience in a unionized environment is an asset.
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality, highly organized and deadline-oriented, great attention to detail, strong analytical skills, strategic and tactical thinker.

Schedule and Work Environment:

This year-round, excluded position requires a willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekend and evening work, and overnight travel. This position is based out of Caribou, NS but also requires visits to vessels, dock facilities and terminals. There will be some outdoor exposure in various weather conditions in which the environment may be hot or cold. Some time spent sitting, standing, walking, and bending is expected as well as light lifting.

Rate of Pay:

We expect to offer the successful candidate a starting salary of around $80,000 annually. The actual salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience, and internal parity.
