About Us: The Ashcroft Pool is a premier outdoor aquatic facility committed to providing quality swim instruction for individuals of all ages and skill levels. Our mission is to promote water safety and instill a love for swimming. We are currently seeking enthusiastic and certified Swim Instructors to join our dynamic team.
Position Overview: As a Swim Instructor at the Ashcroft Pool, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective swim lessons to students of various ages and abilities. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about water safety, possess excellent communication skills, and can create a positive and supportive learning environment. This position may require working under various weather conditions.
In addition to the Swim Instructor duties, lifeguard duties also apply to this position which include chemical testing and balancing, cleaning and concession, monitoring pool area, preventing accidents, responding to emergencies, and enforcing pool rules to create a secure and enjoyable experience for all.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct swim lessons in accordance with approved curriculum and teaching guidelines.
- Assess students' swimming abilities and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during lessons.
- Collaborate with other instructors and staff to enhance the overall swim program.
- Maintain constant surveillance of the pool and surrounding areas.
- Enforce pool rules and regulations to ensure a safe and positive environment.
- Respond quickly and effectively to all emergency situations.
- Provide first aid and CPR as needed.
- Assist in pool maintenance tasks as required.
- Interact with pool visitors in a friendly and professional manner
- Concession includes admission, sales, swim lesson registration
Qualifications:
- Current certification: National Lifeguard Pool Certification (NL) and Life Saving Society Swim for Life Instructor Certification
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.
- Previous experience as a Swim Instructor is preferred but not required.
- Strong swimming skills and a genuine passion for teaching.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
