Wage Range: $35-45$/hr
Location: North Vancouver
Hybrid Work Model: 70% Customer Onsite, 30% Remote

We are seeking a hands-on Systems Engineer to install, troubleshoot, and optimize systems at a client facility. We are a low-volume manufacturer of a wide range of products for the particle accelerator industry. Our products are complex electromechanical devices requiring multidisciplinary knowledge. This position’s primary responsibility is to work at a customer site to assemble, install, and commission D-Pace turnkey accelerator systems.
You will be required to: 

  1. System Installation.
    1. Work with the D-Pace team on installation of the systems in North Vancouver (2-3 weeks per month).
    2. Assemble electrical and mechanical systems.
  2. Testing.
    1. Verify functionality of vacuum system.
    2. Execute test plans to validate operation of all mechanical and electrical systems.
    3. Update quality assurance test plans to cover potential failure modes.
  3. Maintenance and system performance.
    1. Troubleshoot and fix deficiencies during system startup.
    2. Fix deficiencies in systems currently in operation which fall outside the scope of the regularly scheduled maintenance, which is the responsibility of the customer.
    3. Troubleshoot and suggest improvements for underperforming systems.
    4. Offer solutions for both system upgrades and design improvements to the D-Pace team and customer.
  4. Customer communication
    1. Communicate effectively with the customer.
    2. Facilitate required meetings with the customer.
    3. Manage customer expectations and handle requests for additions/modifications.
  5. System installation organization
    1. Co-ordinate shipping and receiving of major system components.
    2. Assist with ordering components for the assembly of the systems.
  6. Design.
    1. Design, model and draft components for the accelerator systems.
    2. Source manufacturing for designed components.
  7. Documentation.
    1. Update build instructions.
    2. Handle quality issues using the D-Pace QMS system.
  8. Management and Communication.
    1. Be self-directed – remote work will require a level of initiative and self-direction.
  9. Be an ambassador for D-Pace. 
Qualification Preferences: 
  • Degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, or equivalent
  • 3-5 years relevant experience
  • Currently legally entitled to work in Canada
  • First-hand experience building electro-mechanical systems  
  • Passionate about hands-on work with mechanics and electronics
  • Understanding of wiring, pneumatic, and vacuum schematics
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills 
  • Safe, organized, meticulous, and detail oriented  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Commitment to confidentiality and integrity within a professional environment
