Summary of Position
The Tasting Room Associate delivers outstanding hospitality to all of our guests, showcasing their passion for hospitality, sales, and wine together. Building a thorough knowledge of our grape growing, winemaking, and wine portfolio to ensure our guests feel welcome, informed, and leave with the expectations exceeded. Must possess a positive attitude, confidence, patience and an ability to think quickly whilst managing many tasks simultaneously.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Welcome and host guests who visit the winery
- Further develop a comprehensive understanding of the Lightfoot & Wolfville wine portfolio, business pillars, philosophies, outstanding hospitality standards, and story.
- High level execution of all tasting experiences offered at Lightfoot & Wolfville
- Work with our team to ensure the daily efficient operation of the wine shop and tasting experiences.
- Development of sales based initiatives to tangibly increase overall sales and track employee performance
- Warmly greet guests and provide an exceptional and memorable tasting experience, while adhering to the day’s tasting reservation schedule.
- Remain aware of the guest’s wine knowledge level and curate the experience to meet their needs.
- Check customers’ IDs to ensure they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages.
- Handle POS transactions including wine and other retail merchandise items.
- Understand all wine shop merchandise items, their prices, purpose and connection to Lightfoot & Wolfville.
- Maintain accurate inventory tracking and accountability throughout shifts.
- Stock shelves and tasting stations.
- Ensure work areas are kept clean, safe and organized.
- Communicate/collaborate with team members across all departments.
- Comply with and follow all Lightfoot & Wolfville health and safety policies and procedures.
- Act as an ambassador to Nova Scotia’s food and wine culture with personal experience and recommendations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- 1 – 2 years or more experience in customer service or relevant role is an advantage
- Proficiency in English, multilingual (specifically French) is an asset
