Teacher - Teaching On Call

We are located 50 km southwest of Williams Lake in Alkali Lake, BC. The Sxoxomic Community School enrolls 63 students from kindergarten to Grade 9. We pride ourselves on creating a unique, student- centered learning environment that embraces Secwepemc values as the foundation for grades K4-9. We promote holistic development that nurtures growth academically, spiritually, emotionally and physically. Students and families are also welcomed into a dynamic and supportive learning community that extends outside of the classroom walls.What we require: Successful experience working with students of Aboriginal ancestry Knowledge and understanding of the local Aboriginal culture and traditions Proven written and verbal communications skills, as well as, exceptional time management and organizational skills Experience in Team Development Superior abilities in verbal and written communication Have demonstrated interest in success or all learners a belief that proper interventions can result in greater opportunities Be a self-starter who will show initiative and operate with minimum supervision Have the ability and ready willingness to listen to and follow directions for duties to be performed Be able to handle behavior concerns in a rational, equitable and respectful manner Be able to work constructively as a team player as school programs are being developed Work with individual and groups of students Perform duties in a friendly supportive caring manner towards staff, students and visitors to the school Criminal Record Check for working with Vulnerable Sector is required Has valid BC Driver’s License (Class 5) or N Knowledge of First Nations Culture and working in a First Nations community is an asset
