THE OPPORTUNITY
The Technical Accounting Manager will work with the corporate accounting function to lead various corporate accounting, consolidation, internal reporting and analysis functions. The Technical Accounting Manager will be an integral part of the accounting cycle, providing support and guidance to the Global Finance team, driving financial reporting activities, and be a primary contact for key accounting matters. The Technical Accounting Manager will lead various cross functional projects supporting the function as a whole
YOU ARE GREAT AT:
• Take a leadership role in preparing monthly and quarterly internal reporting packages, ensuring accuracy in consolidated results.
• Conduct analytical reviews of period-end financial results and provide detailed narratives for informed business decisions.
• Review account reconciliations, promote best practices, and ensure proper accounting and controls are in place.
• Research and outline accounting standard changes, providing reports on findings and recommended next steps.
• Own complex accounting areas and communicate the impact of significant events to senior finance leaders.
• Provide support and guidance to other finance teams and the business.
• Liaise with external auditors during annual audits and quarterly reviews.
• Maintain the Blackline tasks module and report on month-end close deliverables.
• Develop custom reports and provide internal reporting to the finance leadership team using various internal systems and automated tools.
• Lead global projects, including system automation, process improvements, acquisition integration activities, and internal reporting development.
• Develop project plans and take a leadership role in managing project milestones.
• Provide timely status reports to project leaders.
WHAT IT TAKES:
• Strong collaboration and organizational skills.
• Detail-oriented approach with the ability to work with minimal supervision and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Understanding of accounting ERP systems (an asset).
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Self-motivation with a strong desire to take initiative and learn.
• Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Analytical mindset.
• University Degree in finance/accounting.
• CPA designation is required.
• 5 to 7 years of relevant work experience.
• Prior experience with a "Big 4" firm.
• Preferred experience with US GAAP.
• Preferred experience with Blackline and SAP.
