Position: Technician II
Status: Contract 12 months Onsite

Salary Range: $50,192.00 - $71,703.00*
Reports to: Manager, Research and Technology
Schedule: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday**
Location: Walkerton, Ontario
The position reports to the Manager of Research and Technology and also receives guidance and/or direction from R&T Department staff and Training Operations personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Assists in the maintenance and operation of the Technology Demonstration facility, equipment and laboratory, on and off site. Ensures that these areas are functional and safe while following all protocols, procedures and guidelines. Conducts information and technical tours as required.
2. Shipping, receiving, set up and maintenance of Centre equipment and supplies for training delivery, pilot testing and special events.
3. May participate in the delivery of select hands-on courses and may assist in the preparation of technical content for courses and reports.
5. Provides assistance with Helpline inquiries when required.
Additional duties may be assigned at the discretion of the position manager. Weekend work may be required on occasion.
A minimum two-year college diploma or a university degree specializing in water treatment or related environmental disciplines is required. A water treatment or water distribution license would be an asset.
The incumbent requires knowledge of drinking water treatment principles, methodologies and practices sufficient to understand the various drinking water treatment and delivery processes, and the requirements of provincial drinking water legislation, regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines; the Safe Drinking Water Act, 2002 and its regulations; operating drinking water process units at full or pilot scale; drinking water sample collection and analysis.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook. Some travel may be required. A valid class G driver’s license (or equivalent) that is not expired, forfeited or suspended is required. Transportation of Dangerous Goods certification will be required to be taken and renewed.

The position normally works routine hours with general control over the pace of work. This position works in an open office environment and experiences normal interruptions by others or equipment distraction. The position involves some exposure to background noise and occasionally extreme temperatures and hazardous chemicals. Some disruption to lifestyle due to travel and work outside of normal working hours.
