Transition House Casual Worker

Job Summary:

Staff Relief Worker works as a member of the Hope & Area Transition Society providing support through goal setting and guidance, education, information, and referrals to women and their children who are dealing with personal abuse. Will also support and encourage women and children with goals that have been set weekly by the Women’s Support workers. Staff Relief Worker provides coverage for various positions within the Transition House staff team.

Qualifications:

The preferred candidate will have:

• Knowledge and understanding of support and crisis counseling related to family violence issues and have ability to work from a trauma-informed practice.
• The ability to demonstrate assertiveness along with both professional and personal boundaries.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with the staff team, including conflict resolution.
• Efficient time, organizational and stress-management skills.
• Flexibility and ability to assimilate into the staff team, along with being able to work independently with little or no supervision and be comfortable working alone
• Must be willing to work a variety of shifts and carry a cell phone.

Ability to pass and maintain security clearance, unrestricted class 5 license with a car and carry business liability insurance.

Job Type: Casual

Salary: From $25.05 per hour

Expected hours: 8 – 35 per week

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Holidays
• Monday to Friday
• Night shift
• Weekends as needed

Education:

• AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)

Experience:

• Social Services Occupations: 1 year (preferred)
