SUMMARY – Weekend Operations Supervisor

Shift: Wednesday to Sunday; 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM; Full-Time Permanent

Rate: $58,000.00 annually
Work Location: 2595 Inkster Blvd, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2E6

The TransX Group of Companies has an exciting opportunity for a Weekend Operations Supervisorto join the Central Operations Department in our Winnipeg facility. This position is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day Operations including managing weekend Staff and their Schedules, helping to resolve weekend issues, oversee the movement of TL and LTL freight. The Weekend Operations Supervisor is also responsible for coaching, training, and supervising Weekend Staff and junior dispatch team. It also includes taking care of the CanX division planning on the weekend. Other duties also include managing the trip arrivals department as well as planning during the week.

KEY ACTIVITIES


Planning the Trucks/Freight

  • Analyze each load and assign the correct asset to ensure on-time service
  • Confirming the assets (trailers, trucks, and driver) are in service and available for use
  • Elevate any potential service failures or truck layovers to area manager in a timely manner
  • Communicate any freight shortfall to the Operations Manager.

CSR/Sales Communication

  • Ensure all orders are updated with accurate information and any lates have proper service alerts entered.

Troubleshooting

  • Recover loads when trucks breakdown or drivers become unavailable
  • Set up switches to protect on-time service when needed
  • Resolve issues if drivers are not available for a scheduled run

Morning Supervisor Checklist/Routine Tasks

  • Review Night issues and assign timeline to appropriate group to provide feedback and resolution.
  • Review Balance on the Balance Sheet. Put together a Global Network Balance email to send to the Managerial/Executive group. Give necessary direction for any Imbalance issues.
  • Ensure all Weekend Staff is in and all Fleets have been pulled by the appropriate Fleet Manager.

Weekend Supervisor Reports

  • Check all the Dawg reports and ensure Staff is completing them promptly.
  • Ensure the System is live all the time and no orders is outstanding in the Stop Compliance reports
  • Check the All loads planning board and Fleet Boards to ensure times are correct for any Unplanned loads and no drivers are left unplanned for the today and next day.
  • Confirm Temperature Variance have been completed.

Weekend routine Follow-up

  • Check with weekend CSR’s (Walmart, linehaul, LTL) for any issues / late freight. Assign a timeline for them to report back on any major issues, planner/fleet manager may also be required to provide feedback
  • Check with Fleet Managers to confirm where they are at in their day. Assign any additional support should any of them be running behind.
  • Follow up with planners for the current and next day. Assign any outstanding tasks to the appropriate planner.
  • Ensure night staff has all the required information sent to them that requires follow-up.

People and Financial Management:

  • Engagement, hiring, retention, coaching, and accountability.
  • Facilitate effective communication among the staff.
  • Apply conflict resolution processes to resolve issues.
  • Foster an environment built around a high level of expectations, efficiencies and service.
  • Understand the operational costs that influence daily decisions.
  • Ensure team members understand and make the right decisions based on cost and other influences.
  • Improve planning, fleet management, and customer service efficiencies to reduce cost and improve profit margins.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

Education

  • High School Diploma
  • Post- Secondary Education- Preferred
Experience
  • Knowledge & Experience in all segments of the trucking industry(Dispatching/ Planning/ Customer service) – 3 years of experience
  • Experience using Trimble software such as TMW and totalmail.
  • Well versed in Microsoft excel with pivot tables, data organization, charts/graphs and formulas.
  • Strong understanding of cross-border procedures and regulations.
  • Hands on Experience creating and implementing Operational Processes.
  • Excellent Project Management Skills
  • Team Leadership - Experience in managing people
  • Ability to coach individuals and create staff development / growth plans.
  • Basic level of financials
