We are currently accepting resumes for NEW!! positions – Undercarriage Specialists in a safety-sensitive environment on a 14/14 rotation within the Alberta Oil Sands in Fort McMurray/Wood Buffalo Region that are motivated, committed and want to grow with us.

The Undercarriage Specialist is an entry level position for a computer savvy individual focusing on data collection and reporting that will pave the way for other career opportunities. Alternate career paths and/or apprenticeship opportunities, typically within 12 - 18 months, will be available to successful candidates who are dedicated, hardworking, and exemplify excellent performance, attitude, and the desire to move forward in their career.

Undercarriage Specialistsin the Oil Sands will work rotations in either a 7/7 or 14/14 schedule with 12-hour shifts. Shared accommodations are available to those who are not local, as well as shared transportation to and from site.

In addition to the base salary, Specialists can look forward to:

+ 6.5% of gross earnings for hours worked

+ Commuter Supports ($1,000/month**) for eligible individuals traveling to the Wood Buffalo Region for work

+ Compensation Package Extras: Matching RRSP program, vacation pay, sick time benefits, group benefits (life, critical illness & disability insurance, extended health, dental, vision), allowances (location, boot & tool), bonus structure, accommodations (for non-residents) and transportation to and from site

The Job:

Undercarriage Specialists are an integral part of the team in meeting the high-quality maintenance of the heavy equipment. In this position, Specialists, through data collection and reporting, will assist in maximizing uptime of machines, creating efficiencies, and increasing production. The information collected and reported will assist in targeting early detection of problems and predicting wear rates.

Specialists will work in the shop as well as in the field throughout our worksites. Being physically capable of doing the job is a necessity are as Specialists are generally required to stand for the entire shift and lift in excess of 50 pounds.

To meet the demands of this position effectively, Specialists must be able to:

  • Adhere to and comply with all safety and environmental policies and initiatives
  • Represent Heavy Metal positively and professionally in all interactions with clients and customers, including written and verbal communication
  • Complete hazard assessments to a high standard acceptable by OH&S
  • Complete data collection as requested and required of the undercarriages on the applicable fleet
  • Document and communicate findings from inspections, tracking data used for stats and trends
  • Arrange equipment in the yard in an organized fashion
  • Work with the Planning Department to follow guidelines and schedules pertaining to the maintenance, lifecycle, and longevity of fleet

What we need from you?

  • Someone who takes pride in their work
  • Computer saavy, proficient with Microsoft Office Suite of products, particularly Excel
  • Oil Sands/mine site experience is preferred
  • Heavy Equipment Operation experience and knowledge of machines
  • Experience driving in the mine site is preferred
  • Class 5 advanced Driver's license with a clean driver's abstract (*as you move into alternate roles, Air Brakes may be required)
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Must be able to follow direction well
  • Must have an excellent safety attitude, promoting and contributing to a strong safety culture and demonstrated commitment to safe work practices
  • Collaborative communication style with strong verbal, written and comprehension skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Able to lift 50 pounds without assistance
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent

As part of our Hiring Process, YOU will be asked to:

  • Provide a minimum of a Class 5 Driver's License (Advanced) and clean Driver’s Abstract
  • Provide a criminal record check
  • Complete drug and alcohol screening with a negative result
  • Complete a fitness evaluation related specifically to your position
  • Provide copies of current certifications (if you do not have any of the training required to be on site, we will provide it for you)
  • Comply with federal, provincial and Heavy Metal/client worksite regulations
