Utility Locate Technician - Northeastern Ontario

Summary

Superior Locates Ltd is one of the leading LSP's and DLSP's in Northwestern and Northeastern Ontario. With our public and dedicated division client base growing, we are now seeking Locate Technicians across Northeastern Ontario for public, private, and dedicated locate projects. The Utility Locate Technicians will support our current and growing client base which covers all aspects and methods of utility locating and within the Northeastern portion of our footprint in Ontario. Our total footprint spans from the Quebec border to the Manitoba border, with our main office situated in Thunder Bay. Superior Locates is a fast-growing company with strong ties to numerous communities in Northwestern and now Northeastern Ontario which promotes growth and partnerships with other local companies. The candidates should have extensive knowledge, experience, and training certifications in EMF locating - multi utility, GPR – multi utility and infrastructure identification, and Concrete Scanning with experience in mines, mills, hydro dams, and many other major utility environments. The candidates should have a great attitude towards their work and their fellow technicians and be willing to share knowledge and help each other with their daily tasks and feel comfortable working as part of a team. Duties & Responsibilities

· Proficient in operating different types of office software pertaining to locate reports.

· Experience in ticket and excavation management systems used to organize, complete, track and monitor One Call tickets.

· Working with project owners and managers to schedule and perform site meets and discuss specific job requirements.

· Collection of data using EMF locate equipment , GPR , Concrete Scanner and preparing reports for each.

· Physically locating Hydro, Water, Sewer, Natural Gas and Telecommunications infrastructure with paint and flags for Utilities and Private customers.

· Read project sheets and perform project safety site inspections.

· Read, interpret and augment maps with notes.

· Drive service vehicle and maintain inventory and safe storage of equipment.

· Travel to other cities/areas, work in a variety of settings and work site conditions.

· Take photos of locates.

· Other duties as needed.

Skills & Qualifications

· Clean driver’s license

· High-school diploma or equivalent

· Experience in the Hydro, Telecommunications, Natural Gas, Sewer/Water, Civil Excavation and Construction industry an asset

· ORCGA DPT trained, with a minimum of 3 years of experience an asset

· GPR certification with a minimum of 3 years experience

· Concrete Scanning certification with a minimum of 3 years experience

· Excellent computer and software skills

· Self-organizing and able to multi-task

· Experience dealing directly with customers

· Strong communication and team skills

· Criminal Record Check Required

· Able to work independently and as part of a team

· Able to work on job sites outside for long periods

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $25.00-$32.00 per hour
