This is an in-scope union position that monitors water and sewer plant operations by observation, instrumentation and laboratory testing and makes adjustments to predetermined parameters plus other assigned duties.
REPORTS TO: Town Foreman, Assistant Town Foreman
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) Conduct water and sewer testing to fulfill operating permit requirements
b) Perform tests and record results required for day-to-day operations of the Water Treatment Plant
c) Perform daily well checks, including meter and hour reads, temperature checks, and leak checks
d) Maintain and repair equipment, facilities and grounds at the sewer treatment plant, water treatment plant, wells, lift stations, Skinners Lake, and irrigation facility
e) Assist with infrastructure repair and upgrades
f) Replace water meters
g) Flush hydrants
h) Read water meters for billing purposes and usage inquiries
i) Start-up and winterizing of seasonal lines
j) Ensure all records are kept up to date
k) All other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Plants Operation and Maintenance employees shall have or be willing to obtain the following:
a) Saskatchewan Water & Wastewater Operator Certification Level 1
b) Saskatchewan Water & Wastewater Operator Certification Level 2
c) Demonstrate cooperative attitude with management, staff, and residents
d) Ability to work independently and as part of a team environment
e) Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality
f) Demonstrate computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
g) Experience with Neptune for meter reading
h) Must be bondable
i) Have superior written and oral communication skills
j) Valid Class 5 Drivers License
k) OH&S Level 1
l) First Aid and CPR
