Vineyard Labourer

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform the manual functions for developing and maintaining company vineyards with an elevated skillset. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Prune, tie, pick, train, weed, thin, de-leaf, plant, sucker, graft, harvest, or repair trellis, as needed to maintain or improve the condition of the vines
• Prepare and plant the vineyards
• Install trellis, irrigation, and drainage system in the new vineyards
• Properly maintain safety procedures in all production areas at all times, and to inform the Vineyard Supervisor of any safety problems that may arise
• Non-essential duties may include other property maintenance or cleaning tasks, as requested.

• Lift and/or move 50 or more pounds
• See with close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

WORKING CONDITIONS

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential duties of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently:

• Working near moving mechanical parts
• Exposed to wet, cold, and/or humid conditions
• Required to perform work duties outdoors
• Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals
• Subjected to a moderate noise level

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty with an expanded skillset. The requirements listed below are representative of that knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Education and experience: No prior work experience necessary, but experience in vineyards or other related Ag field preferred.
• Language: Ability to speak, read, or write in one language fluently (English or Spanish)
• Communication: Ability to understand oral or written instructions
• Reasoning: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Must have the ability to identify and inform their supervisor of any safety problem.
• Other: Basic mechanical skills and aptitude, ability to work in a crew environment

Job Types: Casual, Seasonal
Contract length: 1 month

Salary: $17.50-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 60 per week

Schedule:

• Evening shift
• Monday to Friday
• Weekends as needed
