Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor, our Warehouse Lead Hand is the heart and soul of our operations. The ideal candidate is an active, hands-on leader who is comfortable wearing many hats in order to get the day’s work done.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the candidate regularly works near moving mechanical apparatus and is regularly exposed to vibration and moderate to high noise levels. The work environment includes congested and high traffic areas, slippery floors, working alongside forklifts, single pallet jacks, electric walk behind jacks and handcarts. Some duties are performed in the warehouse and will require work to be done in varying climates. Temperatures range from zero in the coolers to 95 degrees Fahrenheit or above outdoors. The shift end-time fluctuates with the employer’s daily needs. The associate may occasionally work in high and precarious places.
Essential Duties
- Work with the dispatch team to control traffic on the shipping dock. Determine which trucks need to be loaded and get them out in a timely manner
- Fill in where needed in other warehouse positions
- Assist in outbound and inbound logistics, this includes receiving product if needed
- Maintain facility standards and cleanliness (waste management, pallet management, machine management)
- Act as the point person on any special deliveries for key accounts if needed
- Required to work overtime, if requested
- May from time to time be required to train other employees, select orders and replenish
- Learn to operate Produce Pro and all sub menus
- Coordinate waste, corrugate and empty pallet pick ups with vendors
Basic Requirements
- High School diploma or G.E.D
- Basic reading and writing skills
- Forklift license
- Proven experience working with produce or food in a distribution/warehouse environment
- Computer experience using spreadsheet software
- At least one year of WMS experience
- One (1) year data entry experience
- One to three (1-3) years in a fast-paced multi-tasking role
Preferred Requirements
- Post-secondary education in logistics or supply chain an asset
- One (1) year computer experience on an ERP system
- One year shipping/receiving experience in a warehouse
Schedule
- Alternating 5 days or 6 days every other week (including weekends depending on business needs)
- 7:00am start time (shift end time varying on business needs)
