Position Overview:

Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor the Warehouse Shift Crew Lead will be responsible for team coordination and control of warehouse operator personnel to provide effective, efficient and economical support. Ensure all customer issues are handled effectively and in a timely manner to meet and exceed the performance metric requirements. Works directly with others to identify and demonstrate ways to improve team performance. Practice lean warehousing to eliminate waste. The Warehouse Shift Crew Lead is directly responsible for attaining and sustaining performance metrics and standards for inventory accuracy, order fulfillment and pack-up kit readiness.

What You Will Do:

  • Work planning coordination and organization of the daily activities of the Shift Crew;
  • Training and orientation of new staff on material handling equipment, health & safety, standard plant procedures;
  • Coordination and control of the Shift Crew activities including receipt, physical security, shipping and receiving, kitting, issue and local delivery of material;
  • Load, unload and move products and materials by hand or using material handling equipment.
  • Complete accurate stocktaking cycle counts as per schedules;
  • Achieve performance targets (metrics) during the shift;
  • Monitor stock levels to prevent stock outs/overages;
  • Documentation control and processing for the repair or calibration of defective items;
  • Keeping company owned and customer supplied assets in good working order and condition. Ensuring inventory data accuracy and integrity through the timely updating of the functional inventory computer system;
  • Act as a focal point for materiel matters with 8 Wing personnel;
  • Responsible for facilitating the resolution of Shift Crew administrative matters;
  • Ensure appropriate training is provided and procedures are adhered to;
  • Ensure manpower is equitably distributed to meet needs dictated by workload;
  • Ensure that the company operated warehouses are properly maintained with respect to cleanliness, packaging, location, identification, labeling, segregation, security and safe working conditions and coordinates Shift Crew lean warehouse practices;
  • Facilitates and monitors necessary personnel development and administration within the Shift Crew;
  • Provide shift point of contact liaison, and responsiveness to the clients authorized representative;
  • Recommend disciplinary action, where required Participate as a member of management on labour committees Investigate workplace incidents/events;
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Will Bring:

  • Grade twelve diploma (Undergraduate degree preferred) and at least ten years experience (3-5 yrs supervisory experience) in Aerospace Logistics and Supply Management and related fields, or a suitable combination of education, training, civil/military experience and record of achievement.
  • Experience must include shipping, receiving, picking, security, inventory control, quality control, safety and other general supply chain service requirements.
  • Ability to interface with suppliers and customer management.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve customer issues in the time which meets or exceeds customer expectations.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and computer skills are a must. Must have a strong logistical and customer service background.
  • Must be familiar with MS Office Products (Excel, and Outlook, Microsoft office) and computerized Warehouse/Inventory Management Systems.
  • Must be able to coordinate and support multiple tasks on a consistent basis, while providing the highest level of customer service.
  • Must have the ability to organize, schedule and plan daily activities.
  • Physical strength is required for manually lifting and moving materials up to 22Kg in weight.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret statistical and performance metric data relating to the effective and efficient analysis of the operation.
  • Must be flexible with work hours and willing to work overtime and rotating shifts when needed.
  • Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian government security clearances.
