Job description

About Wellio

It’s probably not news to you that wellbeing and mental health issues are rising globally. 40% of young people have suffered from a mental disorder in the last 12 months, so chances are you know someone who has been affected.

Wellio was founded to help schools put wellbeing at the heart of a student's learning experience. We believe the deterioration of youth mental health is one of the most important problems in the world to tackle right now, and we’re looking for people to join us on that journey.

Wellio is a wellbeing platform that empowers schools to deliver engaging and interactive wellbeing programs. Through Wellio, schools are able to easily measure the impact of their program and monitor student wellbeing with real-time data. Our clients use Wellio to proactively teach students skills that help them thrive, including how to manage anxiety, build strong relationships, reduce phone addiction, improve sleep, and practice mindfulness and gratitude.

Over the last 12 months, our client base has grown by 400% and expanded into the UK.

That’s why we need your help!

About The Role

We’re looking for a Content Writer to continue growing Wellio’s lesson library of lessons, focusing particularly on lessons designed for schools in the UK as we continue to grow.

You’ll do this by working with our content team to write interactive wellbeing/PSHE lessons for schools in the UK. This will require an understanding of the UK PSHE system and the statutory guidance for physical health and mental wellbeing in secondary schools in the UK.

We’re aiming to develop between 50 - 80 new lessons on a range of areas including drugs & alcohol, relationships, mental health, emotional management, gaming, phone addiction and healthy eating.

This role is available as either a three-month full-time contract, or a part time engagement for a minimum of 10 hours per week, providing flexibility to accommodate your lifestyle and commitments.

As a young company growing quickly, this role also presents opportunities for growth in the future, both within Australia and internationally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write engaging and interactive lessons on mental health, wellbeing, drugs & alcohol, sexual education and more.
  • Analyse the UK's PSHE curriculum and secondary guidelines for physical and mental wellbeing, interpreting its requirements to design engaging and interactive lessons that align with these standards.
  • Communicate and collaborate with the Wellio content team.
  • Provide feedback and review lessons written by colleagues.
  • Identify areas of need within the Wellio lesson library to address curriculum requirements in the UK and Australia.
  • Be available for virtual meetings with the Wellio content team.

About You

  • A hard-working and self-motivated person with experience in the PSHE, Pastoral or Safeguarding area of UK schools.
  • Passionate about teaching PSHE and wellbeing and know how to design engaging and interactive lessons that both students love participating in and teachers find easy to deliver.
  • Experience teaching in schools and a proven track record of strong pedagogical knowledge.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and time management skills.
  • You have strong IT skills and can quickly adapt and use new programs and software.
  • You’re a hard worker who gets things done and can work independently while contributing to a wider team.
  • Improving people’s wellbeing and mental health is important to you. You understand the impact a person’s wellbeing can have on their education and future.

Why Join?

  • Competitive salary that reflects your experience.
  • Ability to work alongside current employment, providing a minimum of ten hours per week with Wellio, or ability to complete a full-time contract for three months.
  • A flexible and hybrid work environment that works for you and your lifestyle, ideally located in Australia or in a timezone with a 3-hour crossover to Adelaide, Australia, during working hours (but not essential).
  • Working on something that really matters and makes a tangible difference in people’s lives. If having a positive and meaningful impact on people’s lives is important to you, Wellio is the place for you.
