Title: Wellness Systems Quality Care Coordinator
Salary: $70,677 - $79,561 - $97,239 per year
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Standard

About the role
As the Wellness Systems Quality Care Coordinator, you wil provide an advanced level of culturally safe expertise in supporting all self – identifying First Nations individuals, in the Fraser Salish Region, on a journey to Quality Care. Quality care is rooted in the story and experience of each First Nations individual/community, providing culturally unique supports in the coordination of feedback and concern. This position works with First Nations community, clients/patients, and health care providers in the acute care, residential services, mental health, public health, home health services and in community systems to support the FNHA approach to complaints and quality client/patient care. This position will work directly with individuals and community to coordinate an opportunity to hear, document and bring forward stories or experiences that require attention. This position will also provide individuals/community with the connection to resources to support healing based upon transparent and accountable documentation of complaint, resolution of issues and the opportunity for improved experience.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops, designs and implements, in collaboration with other teams/departments of the FNHA and the Fraser Health Authority, an individually driven, effective and transparent process for complaints in the Fraser Salish Region including determination of follow-up actions in response to First Nations patients/clients/community and/or family Quality Care concerns
  • Develops, designs and implements, in collaboration with other teams/departments of the FNHA and the Fraser Health Authority, culturally safe, individual/community driven avenues for patient/client/community stories/feedback, and follow up to support patients, clients, residents and families in healing from their experience and understanding their rights within various Wellness Systems.
  • Participates in the improvement of the First Nations wellness system experience by collaborating within the FNHA Fraser Salish regional multidisciplinary team, partner agencies and providing regular reports on patient/client/community experiences
  • Develops and maintains excellent working and partnership relationships with Fraser Salish First Nations community, including deep understanding of Fraser Salish community cultures while employing respectful and empathetic verbal and written communication skills in support of a client/patient care journey.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have a University degree in social sciences, health, or a related profession

  • Recent, relevant and significant experience, working with First Nations organizations, communities,multifaceted health or social/human service organizations, usually acquired over a period of 5 to 7 years, ideally in the Fraser Salish Region
  • Training in patient safety investigation methods and quality improvement is an asset
  • Cultural safety training or trauma informed care training are both assets
  • Experience in handling and navigating First Nations patient/family interactions in a culturally safe and humble manner, including respect, compassion and empathy
  • Knowledge of First Nations communities, ideally within the Fraser Salish Region
  • Knowledge of social justice issues, and the impact of social determinants on health

The Pay Range is the minimum and maximum annual salary based on full time equivalent hours.
Incumbents are typically hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the range based on their knowledge, skills, abilities and experience in relation to the role requirements.
The top 10% of the pay range is for the incumbents who are industry experts in the job with the combination of exceptional experience and competencies needed to perform all duties and responsibilities at a superior capability level.


As a health and wellness organization, the FNHA has aligned with the Provincial Public Health Order released on October 14, 2021. We have a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all employees at First Nations Health Authority. This policy requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. If selected for employment, you will be required to provide proof of vaccination by providing a copy of your BC Vaccination Card Passport with the QR code.
