We are looking for a Workforce Coordinator to provide operational workforce planning and support to the Maintenance Department, optimizing work assignments of temporary employees, planning for employee movements, and ensuring coverage needs are met.

The role is a great opportunity for an analytical and detail-oriented individual to actively contribute to the operational efficiency of the Maintenance Department, thereby playing a crucial role in the overall success and productivity of the team.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager and working a Monday to Friday schedule, you will be:

  • Adhering to Rio Tinto’s Health, Safety, and Environmental standards while actively engaging in our culture of care, courage, and curiosity.
  • Analyzing workload to determine optimal staffing levels while adhering to budget constraints.
  • Developing and executing strategies to fulfill identified departmental needs.
  • Overseeing the Temporary Employees’ system in line with the Collective Labour Agreement.
  • Engaging in projects involving workforce adjustments, including increases, decreases, training needs, and shift modifications.
  • Assisting in the seamless transfer of Operators and/or Maintainers by supporting the process and providing timely information.
  • Preparing comprehensive monthly workforce reports for senior organizational management, encompassing metrics such as absenteeism, overtime, and time off.

What you’ll bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
  • Possession of a related tertiary qualification or a minimum of a high school diploma coupled with pertinent experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • A team-oriented mindset, emphasizing collaboration and effective engagement with others.
  • Excellence in communication and organizational skills.

It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • Experience within BC Works or a comparable heavy industrial environment.
  • Previous experience in coordinating employees within a unionized environment.

The base salary range for this role is $84,000 - $126,000 CAD in addition to allowances, bonus, equity, health or retirement benefits, and any other discretionary benefits offered at Rio Tinto. Our base salary ranges are based on role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by the skills, experience, and impact you bring to the role.
