Yard Operator Role - $35/hour, Monday-Friday
Position Overview
Maintain a safe and healthy environment, operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner, and wear appropriate PPE as determined by the company for the safe operation of equipment required for the general housekeeping of the plant.
Key Duties and responsibilities
-Operate mobile equipment in a safe and effective manner
-Conduct daily inspections of assigned equipment, document before and after state and report any deficiencies to the supervisor
-Work within other departments when holding a relief position
-Removal and replacement of refractory in Kiln
-Properly inspect and operate Hy Vac.
-Snow removal and salt spreading as required
-Operate ball sorting machine
-Report any deficiencies to the supervisor
-Housekeeping duties as assigned
-Any other duties as assigned when not required under normal classification
 
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
-Working outdoors at varied temperatures and weather conditions
-Working indoors in varied conditions (ie. hot noisy, dusty)
-Exposure to extreme heat
-Working in confined spaces
-Working at heights
-Operating jackhammer
-Shoveling debris
-Lifting up to 70lbs
 
Qualifications
-Good oral and written communication skills.
-Good interpersonal skills to be able to interact with other departments.
-Ability to operate various mobile equipment as required (i.e Bobcats, sweepers, small loaders, etc.)
-Must have a valid “G” class driver’s license
 
Work Environment
-This position is based across the plant
