DMC Recruitment Group is working with a leading building materials supplier to hire a Yard/Warehouse Manager for the Calgary Branch. This is a leading company with an already well-established territory with opportunity for more business development growth.

The Senior Lumber Yard and Warehouse Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing day-to-day operations within the yard and logistics team. This leadership position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about working outdoors and have a keen interest in construction materials and projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading and supporting contractor and retail customers, offering assistance in finding products and delivering exceptional customer service.
- Working as a member of the Branch Management Team on continuous improvements to the monthly P&L for the branch.
- Works closely with the Human Resources Department for training of all yard employees, including First Aid, forklift and other equipment and ensures all required certification (both voluntary and mandatory) are completed and documented accordingly.
- Monitors work activities, establishes priorities, delegates tasks, monitors performance and follows up to ensure satisfactory completion. Delegates supervisory responsibilities to cover absence, informing all required parties.
- Managing yard forklift operations after completing training and certification.
- Supervising the operation of saws in the cut shop, ensuring safe practices.
- Works with Production Manager on yard inventory counts for both cyclical and year-end inventory, and maintains adequate inventories of all yard products, ensuring shortages and low inventory are reported to the Purchasing Department.
- Overseeing the unloading of transport trucks with products for the store and yard and managing the loading and unloading of delivery drivers.
- Attending Health and Safety Committee meetings and participating in training as required by store management and committees.
- Assuming other duties as assigned by the Branch Manager.
- Physical fitness with the ability to repeatedly lift over 35kgs.
- Possession of forklift training is considered an asset.
- Proven ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced and demanding work environment.
- Professional, courteous, punctual, and a strong focus on customer service.
- Basic functional math skills, including the ability to perform basic calculations without a calculator.
- Previous experience and knowledge in this or a related industry is an asset.
