Specifically, the candidate will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
- To support students in classrooms and flexible programs at the Niverville Elementary School
- To implement and supervise the educational programming of student(s)
- To provide guidance, mentorship, and support in school
- To work cooperatively under the supervision of the program teaching staff
- To assist, if needed, driving students to and from school with personal vehicle
Qualifications:
- Child and Youth Care Diploma; an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered
- Minimum two years’ experience working with adolescents who struggle with emotional, behavioural difficulties, or mental health challenges is preferred
- Relevant experience working with at-risk youth and youth in the care of child welfare agencies
- Strong understanding of programming in a school environment
- Competency in positive student behaviour management
- Effective communication skills and ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary collaborative team
- Working Effectively with Violent and Aggressive States (WEVAS) and/or Non-Violent Crisis
Intervention (NVCI) training would be an asset
- Demonstrated ability to establish positive relationships with children/youth
- Strong judgement and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle difficult and/or sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy
- Ability, emotional and physical stamina to work with students with complex, emotional, and behavioural disorders
- Ability to maintain discretion regarding sensitive and confidential information
- Vehicle required with valid driver’s license and vehicle registration
Must have a current Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check
