Reporting to the Manager, Financial Shared Services, the Accountant will be a key member of the Finance Team and provide support to the Shared Services team.This position is based in the Edmonton office and will be an 18-month contract term.
What you will be working on
- Prepare monthly continuity schedules for balance sheet accounts, reconcile to G/L and investigate any unusual items.
- Reconcile various asset and liability accounts through continuity schedules; follow up on issues/unreconciled balances (i.e.: accrued liabilities, etc.).
- Prepare intercompany schedules and eliminations and coordinate posting of affected A/P and A/R with operations.
- Formulate and park monthly journal entries for prepaid, accrued liabilities, etc.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
- Assist in analyzing monthly financial statements through preparation of various schedules required by parent company.
- Preparation of Allocation schedules on a monthly basis.
- Assist in preparation of monthly/quarterly financial reporting schedules.
- Provide support to all internal and external customers.
- Ad-hoc reporting as required.
- Assist in preparation of year-end audit working papers.
- Accounting for cash transfers and bank entries.
- Other duties as required.
What We Are Looking For
- Undergraduate Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA Designation or is working towards CPA Designation is an asset
- 4+ years of relevant work experience
- Experience in the construction industry would be considered an asset
- Able to work under high pressure situations and with strict deadlines
- Excellent organizational skills to be able to handle fluctuating workloads
- Highly accurate and efficient with excellent attention to detail
- Able to work independently, as well as a team player
- Proven analytical/problem solving skills
- Ability to deliver results within tight deadlines
