Position Summary:
This onsite opportunity will report to the Operations Finance Manager, the Accountant - Production is responsible for the production accounting activities for the Sturgeon Refinery. The Accountant - Production works closely with Marketing, Operations, Process Engineering, and Finance to ensure accuracy of volumetric data of feedstock and refined products. This information is critical to company operations, management and financial reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Report volumetric information to internal stakeholders weekly; support production transaction recording, inventory transactions and related reporting and posting the general ledger;
- Populate volumetric data into Petrinex and other related regulatory volumetric measurement and allocation compliance reporting in line with government posted schedules including Federal Fuels Regulation submissions, Renewable Fuels and ECCC regulatory submissions, and other StatsCan submissions;
- Work closely with the Operations, Marketing and Process Engineering teams to gather and analyze day to day production and measurement data; produce weekly reporting for yield and forecast production updates;
- Prepare, reconcile and submit various inventory volume and transaction reporting related to NWR business and Tollpayers including tank, pipeline and measurement reconciliation with mass balance and posting of close adjustments and equalizations;
- Focal for preparation, reconciliation and submission of production summary reporting for Tollpayers, Partnership reporting, and Cost of Service Toll invoicing and settlement from related sales, production, inventory and other product movements;
- Gather and analyze production information from internal systems and meters to ensure accuracy for month-end reporting;
- Focal for Partnership and Tollpayer production and inventory audits;
- Support of revenue accounting activities;
- Assist in consolidation and preparation of budget materials to ensure consistency and accuracy of data;
- Assist operations finance team with other related month-end processes;
- Support collaboration to ensure exceptional stakeholder service internally and externally;
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Understands, creates and maintains a visible commitment to process and personal safety, as well as the safety of others; adheres to NWR’s Core Competencies to drive results and a high performing culture;
- 5 years’ experience within an oil & gas marketing accounting function, including direct experience in accounting for the sale of refined products;
- CAPPA Production Accounting Certificate or a degree in Business Administration, Accounting or an Accounting Designation or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Strong understanding of marketing business processes and information technology system requirements and concepts;
- Ability to excel in a growing organization;
- Prior experience implementing new processes and controls;
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Able to effectively work as part of a cross- functional team;
- Advanced skills in the utilization of Microsoft Excel.
