Actuarial Associate (Pension)

Address:

Prices pension annuity quotes with up-to-date pricing assumptions, performing cash flow testing for assigned quotes using the required actuarial technology. Provides actuarial services expertise and advisory support for all pension de-risking of BMO Life Assurance.

• Analyzes pension plan data to provide for input into pricing models.
• Creates and validates Excel spreadsheets to accurately reflect values and profitability.
• Breaks down strategic problems, and analyses data and information to provide insights and recommendations.
• Provides input for continuous improvement of processes and procedures to support more effective operations.
• Provides business and technical expertise when required for management reporting, special projects and technology issues.
• Coordinates provision of management information, according to established needs and timelines, for use in internal and external audits and for general management information.
• Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
• Works independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations.
• Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

• Typically between 2 - 3 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Working knowledge of defined benefit pension plans and pension plan administration.
• Solid foundation in actuarial related functions and strong insurance software skills.
• In-depth knowledge of actuarial pricing or valuation of defined benefit pension plans and regulatory requirements.
• Advanced Excel skills to support the effective design and use of spreadsheets to perform actuarial work.
• Ability to run data queries and strong familiarity with administration systems and data format.
• Technical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience.
