The Addictions Support Worker provides informal supports to clients during evening and weekend hours, around client's quiet/leisure time. They lead and participate in recreational and informal programming for clients during down time. The ASW checks with clients regularly and provides general supervision.
Key responsibilities of the position include completing client orientations and intakes when required, general supervision of clients, keeping track of client activities, making any special notes or safety concerns on communication board and shift log, develop supportive therapeutic relationship and maintain a positive presence for all clients.
Support clients to access medication, resolve client conflicts as necessary.
Strictly adhere to confidentiality protocols and provide ethical and compassionate client service.
Must be able to work independently, have clear personal boundaries, be reliable, a team player, capable of documentation and mature. First aid and suicide intervention training an asset. Personal recovery experience also an asset.
