The Pas and the Hudson Bay Port of Churchill. We service numerous businesses and Northern communities along the way.
Position: Administrative Assistant, Hudson Bay Railway (HBR)
Location: The Pas, MB
Hours of Work: 8 AM to 4 PM
Start Date: Mid-January to April 30, 2024 (possibility of extension or permanent status)
Salary: $18/hour (possibility of increases based on qualifications/skills/experience)
The Position: Under the direction of the Office Manager, the Administrative Assistant supports Human
Resources and Payroll activities at HBR by assisting with payroll input, employment processes and employee records, and performing basic office management tasks. The Administrative Assistant may be involved with a variety of processes at HBR, including payroll, recruitment, hiring, benefits, onboarding, training, health and safety requirements, gathering and providing data for regular reporting requirements, and ordering/tracking supplies. The Administrative Assistant will also be responsible for filing and records management (paper and/or electronic). This work will include utilizing the current payroll system and various spreadsheets, along with other records management systems and practices.
The Administrative Assistant may arrange and attend meetings, contribute to Human Resources and
Payroll solutions, and help to develop and plan various internal processes and programs.
Qualifications/Skills/Experience Required:
- Related experience in Human Resources and/or Payroll.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy.
- Positive and culturally relevant verbal and written communication skills.
- Positive attitude and organizational and time-management skills.
- Experience with spreadsheet preparation and data input.
- Successful completion of an Office Administration Certificate, Administrative Assistant Diploma or equivalent.
- Other relevant combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- Experience with the Microsoft suite of programs and the ADP Payroll system will be an asset.
