Job Description
The Bruce Oake Recovery Centre is a 50-bed live in substance use health and addiction treatment facility that provides participants with a full continuum of evidence-based care.
The Administrative Assistant plays an important role in assisting with a variety of areas within the Centre. Areas of support may include but not limited to marketing and social media, communications, executive administration, data entry, facility support, finances, programing, and community event coordination. Along with valuable and transferable skills this position will provide, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to support the significant impact of successful life transformations of individuals and families taking place at the Bruce Oake Recovery Centre.
Lived experience of mental health challenges and/or substance use, and recovery are considered an asset.
The Administrative Assistant will:
- Assist with data entry and maintaining digital files
- Assist in organizing and supporting community partners
- Organize contact lists and distribution lists
- Support expense management and invoicing
- Support in coordination of in person and virtual meetings
- Other duties as required
Qualifications/Experience:
- Completion of High School diploma
- Relevant post-secondary diploma and 1 year of experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience
- Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion and high level of customer/client service and response.
- Professional written and communication skills
- Basics skills in Microsoft 365 Applications such as Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams and online meeting technologies
- Excellent memory and attention to detail
- A willingness to learn and adapt to needs that come up due to the nature of the sector
- A desire to be part of an organization that is committed to equity based person-centered care.
Due to the nature of the funding from the Manitoba Urban/Hometown Green Team Program, the requirements for this role include:
1) Applicant is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act*; and
2) Applicant is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.

This position is made possible by the Manitoba Green Team Program to employ youth aged 15-29 years. All interested candidates who meet this criteria are encouraged to apply. This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
