Key Deliverables
- Administer the various Dispute Resolution (Grievance) Processes in order to ensure compliance with the collective agreements. This includes:
- Reviewing and logging grievances received from the Unions
- Ensuring timelines outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) are met
- Requesting extensions from the Unions as required
- Reviewing all Step 1 responses and raising concerns to the Employment Resolutions (ER) and People and Culture (P&C) Team where appropriate
- Scheduling grievance meetings
- Forwarding Step 1 and Step 2 responses to the required parties
- Tracking arbitration schedules
- Generate grievance reports to provide an overview of the ER issues at the Company. Conduct initial analysis of reports to identify issues such as trends in grievance filings.
- Participate and assist with the Seniority Committee, including annual reporting.
- Participate in grievance meetings and interact with Company stakeholders to validate or track information used by the ER team.
- Lead and/or participate on labour relations projects as assigned by the ER manager.
- Engage with external stakeholders such as CannAmm and Sodales as needed.
- Maintain all ER files (grievance, arbitration, correspondence with the Unions, organizational ER directives, bulletins, etc.) in an organized manner on the shared electronic drive to ensure that historical documents are available to the team.
- Provide administrative support to the ER manager, team and committees (e.g. Joint Steering, Union Management, Seniority) by scheduling meetings, collating the agenda, and attending meetings to take minutes as required in order to maintain historical records of committee work. This also includes:
-Organizing and collating the weekly/monthly ER reports for P&C leadership by
gathering input from team members to build a historical and ongoing record of ER
activities.
Core Competencies and Skills Required
- University degree or College diploma in HR, Business Administration, or other related field.
- 3 years administrative experience
- HR experience in a unionized industrial/manufacturing environment is an asset
- Ability to comprehend technical contract language including collective agreements, letters of agreement and manuals
- Demonstrated initiative and the ability to drive issues to resolution
- Experience in improving systems and processes
- Passion for labour relations is a strong asset
- Experience with SAP and Access is a strong asset
- Must have excellent Excel, Word, Visio and PowerPoint skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal as well as strong interpersonal skills
This is an exempt position.
