Job Summary

The Strategic Initiatives branch is responsible for the strategic design and policy for improving supports for youth and young adults transitioning into adulthood; strategic and operational policy for implementation of the Fall 2022 legislative amendments and broader systemic reform to adoption services; and service design and strategic policy for Prevention and Family Supports. The branch also leads the Service Frameworks for each of these areas.
A Program Officer supports large scale initiatives (medium to long term) with significant external impact, and a range of internal and external partners. The role is accountable for defining and controlling all activities to ensure delivery within scope, schedule, and specified quality.
Job Requirements:
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, social science, or related discipline and 1 year of *related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered:
    • Diploma and 2 years of *related experience, or
    • Certificate and 3 years of *related experience.

*Related experience must include a minimum of 1 year experience in all of the following:
  • Experience supporting initiatives, projects, or project components from planning to close out.
  • Experience in partner engagement and consultation with communities, organizations, and groups of people.
  • Experience in research, policy, or program development.

Preference may be given to applicants with:
  • Experience working in the social service sector of government or in social service sector non-profit organizations.
  • Experience in researching and producing written documents in an office environment.
  • Experience working virtually with colleagues.
  • Applicants who self-identify as having Indigenous heritage (First Nations, Métis or Inuit).

Willingness Statements:
  • Travel may be required (e.g. training, meetings, engagements).

About this Position:
This is a temporary opportunity until July 5, 2024. A permanent appointment may result from this temporary appointment.
This position can be based in any Ministry of Children and Family Development office. The locations listed above are to assist applicants in searching for this opportunity and are not a complete list of locations.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 4 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
