Purpose
Contribute to the overall success of the Financial Sponsors, Corporate Banking (CB) Canada team ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives and ensure that all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
What You'll Do:
-In this position you'll assist with:
-the execution of transactions, including: (i) preparation/review/analysis of term sheets, financial models, (ii) structuring, analytic functions and due diligence activities, and, (iii) ultimately assisting with the closing and monitoring of transactions
-the preparation of credit presentations in accordance with Bank policy, risk assessments and develop recommendations for appropriate courses of action as well as monitor client reporting
-the marketing of a range of credit/lending and non-lending products & services to financial sponsor, pension, corporate and/or institutional clients
-Expand industry and product knowledge while developing relationships with colleagues in all areas within GBM as well as Global Risk Management, Canadian Banking, International Banking and Wealth Management
-Play a key role in the training, development and coaching of CB Credit Analytics Group (CAG) Analysts
-Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
-Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of your respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring theadequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, KYC/AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk
-Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment and a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
What You'll Bring:
-1+ years of Corporate Banking and/or credit experience is highly preferred
-MBA, CFA or other relevant professional designation is highly preferred
-Strong credit and financial modelling skills with the ability to build, work with, modify and/or develop sensitivity scenarios for financial models
-Analytical, documentation and negotiation skills
-Knowledge of lending products and risk processes to facilitate prompt execution of transactions
-Working knowledge of GBM products & areas including Investment Banking, Mergers & Acquisitions, Equity Capital Markets, Debt Capital Markets, Foreign Exchange, Corporate Risk Solutions and Global Business Payments/Trade Finance
-Understanding of private equity, private credit, fund finance, and/or project finance
-Solid financial accounting knowledge
-Ability to provide succinct analysis of key risks and mitigants by utilizing credit knowledge and analytical skills for existing or proposed new transactions
-Business development mindset and capability
Work Arrangement:
This position is currently a Hybrid role, with the expectation that you will work three days a week in the office. Please note that this is subject to change based on the needs of the business.
