We are looking for a select few to join our Apprentice Outdoor Service Technician program. An Outdoor Technician is not something you can't just go to school and learn. It is an in-house program of training, application, and growth that progresses into a career with consistent pay and great skills.

Qualifications:

· You need to know how to drive! A Class 5 drivers license is a MUST and a couple years of experience is the absolute best for this role. Your license needs to be free of major infractions.

· You need to enjoy working outdoors. An “Outdoor” technician works in the hot sun, cool fall, and sometimes in the bone chilling cold! It’s not that bad, but you have to be ready to work in all elements.

· Physical fitness is important. You do not need to run marathons or lift school busses, but you do need to be able to lift 40 pounds, bend, stretch, use your arms and legs, to man handle equipment, climb ladders, dig trenches, and do it all for extended periods of time.

· Communication, communication, communication! You need to be able to communicate effectively both verbally and written with your team members, customers, and vendors. It is 2024 and we use technology like smart phones, computers, text message, and e-mail. Yes, we also call people on the phone and use words as well.

· We need people who are not scared of heights, water, bugs, and hard work. No seriously… If you are scared of bugs and heights, then we have a problem.

· An outdoor technician works both by themselves and with a team. A great candidate is flexible in both environments.

Duties:

An Outdoor Service Technician works on all things outdoors on residential and commercial properties. “It’s a Life Style Thing!” is our mantra to help encourage our customer’s own Life Styles. Duties for this role include:

· Landscape Maintenance – cutting lawns, trimming plants, chemically treating for weeds, hand pulling weeds, fertilizing landscapes to make everything green, clean, and inviting!

· Landscape Construction – building and creating landscape enhancements from the installation of minor planting, to rehabilitating overgrown jungles that once were small and delicate flower beds.

· Irrigation Maintenance – we use water to make things green and grow. Irrigation is a BIG part of our business. This a technical position that requires problem solving of plumbing, electrical, and landscape systems. It is truly the TECHNICIAN of Outdoor Service Technicians.

· Holiday Lighting – we bring colour and joy to the outdoors during the holiday season. You need a great eye for details and a willingness to push past any issues with heights.

· Snow Removal – it’s the task that requires the most flexibility as there is no set schedule. You work when the weather is bad and get time off during those nice chinook days. Clearing snow is extremely important to our clients as they rely on us to make it safe for them to get around their property.

Pay:

This position comes with a range of pay. Your starting wage is based on your previous experience, your attitude, and your willingness and ability to take on the tasks at hand. The range starts at $21.20/hr and can grow to $30/hr based on your progress through our continual training program, applying what you learn, and constantly being hungry to learn and perform.

Previous experience is not required, but a good attitude and enthusiasm is a MUST!

Our apprenticeship program consists of in-house training, online training, hands-on training, 3rd party training, industry courses and seminars, and ample leadership training.
