Job description

Canada Pump and Power is Hiring! If you are a results driven, dedicated, professional manager experienced in business development and people management in the construction and mining industry, we would love to hear from you!

The Area Manager is responsible to initiate, promote, plan, execute, and verify all activities undertaken by Canada Pump and Power in the Area (geographic or otherwise) they have been assigned. This includes business development, client interaction, and managing CPP personnel, equipment, materials, and documentation. For the Ontario region, Business Development will be the main focal point, building relationships with new clients and building on our existing base. Leadership through hands on exposure and participation with the crew will lead to success. Their will be extensive travel to remote locations as well as the central offices for mines in the area.

Accountabilities

  • Ensure all Personnel follow company processes and company Safe Work Procedures and Practices
  • Ensure all Personnel work within Company, Customer, and other existing standards and regulations pertaining to their scope of work.
  • Reporting and rectifying of potential hazards, accidents, and near misses
  • Perform Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRA)
  • Provide a daily report summary of work activities performed following the template provided.

Business Development

  • Identify opportunities for Operations, Rentals, and Sales within the area.
  • Generate more than one million dollars per month in revenue at margins set by the Company.
  • Build a team of competent qualified and experienced personnel to enable the growth of revenue.
  • Learn and understand CPP equipment, processes, and personnel through hands on participation onsite with the working crew to gain this knowledge.
  • Diversify the Client base in the area to include more Clients. In Ontario, this will involve extensive travel to remote locations as well as to central offices for mines in the area.
  • Diversify within the Client base to seek revenue from Sales, Operations, and Rentals
  • Diversify within the Client base to include all four areas of competency – Dive, Pump, Barge, Dredge
  • Organize and hold meetings in person and via teleconference with multiple existing and potential Clients on a weekly basis.
  • Organize and attend site visits and job walk downs (identify in advance the job scope, date of the work duration of the work, aerial view online, and all the data possible on the work application data sheet prior to the site visit).
  • Connect with Clients and Potential Clients as the Canada Pump and Power representative via social media, advertising, marketing, and physical visits whenever possible.
  • Be the area’s main source of information and first point of contact for Canada Pump and Power.

Documentation and Knowledge

  • Ensure all CPP personnel in the area perform Field Level Risk Assessments, attend daily toolbox meetings, and weekly safety meetings.
  • Ensure all CPP personnel in the area conduct and do the paperwork to support daily equipment inspections, quality assurance inspections, work orders, service orders, equipment location forms, work execution plans, job hazard analysis, detailed work plans, labour equipment materials sheets, rental contracts, quality assurance post job forms, job reports, and other safety, environmental, or work-related activities and reports required by the Company.
  • Track and identify if CPP personnel are not fulfilling their responsibilities and report to your manager.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the relevant rules, regulations, and standards required by the regulatory authorities, our clients, and the Company.
  • Identify and ensure personnel understand relevant site emergency response plans.
  • Ensure employee training and certifications are up to date and valid.
  • Review incidents and corrective actions with our Safety Manager, your manager, and your personnel.
  • Know and understand scope of work for all ongoing jobs in the area.
  • Know the whereabouts of all CPP personnel and CPP equipment in the area at all times and do weekly inspections to ensure the published data is accurate.
  • Conduct regular operations meetings with customers and ensure all customer needs are met.
  • Manage and direct personnel for quality and efficiency in all departments for assigned territory.
  • Arrange schedules and request manpower.
  • Conduct formal worksite inspections and provide corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with maintenance personnel to have equipment repaired or services.
  • Conduct employee performance reviews and recommend disciplinary action.
  • Project Planning, Execution, and Completion
  • Attend pre-job planning meetings and visually inspect work area where possible.
  • Provide safety professionals with Work Execution Plans (WEP), Job Hazard Assessment/Analysis (JHA), Detailed Work Plans, and Emergency Response Plans (ERP) for all area projects that include CPP Personnel.
  • Create and issue internal surveys and questionnaires to measure success and opinions on internal success.
  • Assess if Employees have the necessary workspace, equipment, knowledge, and training for optimum performance.
  • Other duties as requested by the General Manager

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Class 5 drivers license with acceptable 3 year driving history
  • Completion of Pumps 100
  • 5 years of experience in a Supervisory role.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding targets and goals
  • Highly accurate verbal and written skills
  • High level of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint expertise.
  • Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) Certificate
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) training
  • Global Harmonized System (GHS)
  • Must participate in and pass screening tests for drugs, alcohol, and other controlled substances.
