Assistant Controller

We’re seeking a highly motivated and hands-on Assistant Controller to join our clients’ team in Truro, Nova Scotia. As the Assistant Controller, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial activities for this industrial manufacturing company while also ensuring compliance and accurate reporting. This is a permanent, full-time position.

Key Responsibilities for the Job:

• Full cycle, day-to-day accounting
• Journal entries
• Reconciliations
• General ledger maintenance
• Month-end preparation
• Financial reporting
• WIP calculations
• Cashflow statements and budgeting support
• Identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies
• Year-end support
• Other related duties as required

Experience & Attributes for Success:

• Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or business
• 4 years+ progressive, full cycle accounting experience
• Experience in construction or manufacturing is a strong asset
• Experience with WIP calculations and/or inventory management is a strong asset
• High level proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems, particularly with Jonas software

• Meticulous attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in financial reporting and data analysis
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively
