Assistant Manager Housekeeping
JOB DESCRIPTION
About this Role
Under the general direction of the Housekeeping Manager, this position is responsible for the overall supervision of Hotel Housekeeping operations and is responsible for scheduling, allocating workload and overseeing the daily activities of Room Attendants, Houseman and Seamstress/Laundry employees while maintaining a safe and welcoming work environment for all employees. Ensures adherence to the Company’s policies and procedures, motivates, and leads by example and supports Great Canadian’s learning environment while establishing a safe and welcoming work environment for all team members.
What you’ll get to DO!
- Schedules and supervises housekeeping team members, allocates rooms and shared area workloads
- Assists the Manager, Housekeeping in developing Performance Objectives and delivering Performance Evaluations, Trains new team members
- Prepares and submits requisitions for equipment, bedding, furniture and services to the Manager, Housekeeping for sign off on basic stock items
- Manages the guest and team member dry cleaning program
- Liaises and communicates effectively with all appropriate operational departments
- Develops and cultivates strong working relationships with all stakeholders (guests, ownership and team members)
- Ensures compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
- Manages other initiatives and duties as required
What you’ll need to be Successful!
- Post-Secondary hospitality or hotel education or suitable combination of education and experience;
- Ability to exceed internal and external customer expectations through timely, effective and service oriented communication
- Ability to lead and mentor a team within a non-unionized environment;
- WHMIS and additional certification as needed; and
- Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook),
- A passion for providing outstanding service to our internal and external guests.
- Minimum 1 year housekeeping management experience
- Applicants should be open to and capable of successfully passing a background check.
