The Office of the Dean at the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering provides leadership for the Faculty’s academic, budgetary and planning processes and sets the strategic leadership of one of the world’s top-ranked engineering schools, with more than 5,400 undergraduate and 2,350 graduate students, 261 faculty, 326 administrative and technical staff, and an annual operating and research budget of more than $290M. Your opportunity:
Reporting to the Associate Registrar, Special Projects & Director, Academic Scheduling, the Assistant Registrar, Academic Scheduling & Business Systems Analyst is an integral member of the Registrar’s Office. The incumbent provides advice and expertise to initiate and lead a diverse range of projects across the entire registrarial portfolio. The position also oversees the implementation of curriculum changes, Academic Scheduling, and enrollment to ensure the highest possible quality for students and Faculty.
Your responsibilities will include:
-Advising management on space allocation and the efficient utilization of physical resources.
-Probing for information to ensure that scheduling constraints are known.
-Analyzing, drafting and submitting course schedules and/or room allocations for approval.
-Leading the development and making recommendations for policy, procedures and best practices for the unit.
-Researching and analyzing existing business processes, programs and services.
-Developing, revising and operationalizing business processes that support unit activities and objectives.
-Developing and implementing application and/or system testing plans and scenarios.
-Developing charter, scope, resources and schedule for project(s) - Preparing projects or policies of importance that require a rigorous approach and attention to very fine detail.
 
Essential Qualifications:
-Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
-Minimum six years of experience, preferably in an educational or post-secondary institution, with experience in Academic Scheduling and/or business analysis activities.
-Experience in executing Business Analysis processes with progressive responsibilities.
-Familiarity with testing methodologies and/or tools to ensure reliability and functionality of systems.
-Advanced knowledge of SQL, excel reporting, data management, and relational databases.
-Experience with administrative coordination, record keeping, student services, the scheduling and student enrolment modules of ROSI or comparable Student Information System in a post-secondary environment.
-Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, demonstrated mediation and leadership skills.
-Ability to exercise tact, good judgment and initiative; strong organizational and time management skills.
-Flexibility, initiative, creativity and ability to work well under pressure while managing competing priorities and paying attention to detail is required.
-Demonstrated ability to coordinate with and positively influence a diverse group of staff and faculty members who may have competing interests for time in the schedule and for space needs in order to minimize inter-departmental conflicts.
-Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment.
Assets (Nonessential):
-Experience with Infosilem suite of products, and/or other student scheduling systems, and Degree Explorer is highly desirable.
-Completion of a certificate in business analysis would be considered an asset.
-Experience with scripting in Python or Perl would be considered an asset.

USW Pay Band 15 -- $93,752 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $119,892. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
