Assistant Volunteer Coordinator - Job Description

Responsibilities:
-● The Assistant Volunteer Coordinator is under the supervision of the Volunteer Coordinator and during the work day is under the guidance of the Instructor on duty

● Assists in lessons as a leader or side walker based on what is required

● Office support; answering phones and managing changes to schedule including sourcing a backup volunteer if required

● Assisting in volunteer onboarding as required under the guidance of the Volunteer Coordinator

● Supports volunteers during shift and assists instructors to assign them appropriate tasks

● Retrieve, groom and tack horses as directed by the instructor

● Maintain tack room, crosstie, volunteer lounge and bathroom areas in clean and organized manner

● May assist in the care of the horses as needs arise and time allows

● At end of shift will complete a summary report for the Volunteer Coordinator

Qualifications:
-● Physically able to be mobile majority of the day including walking in arena footing during lessons

● Excellent verbal communication skills, personality that is welcoming and encouraging

● Able to independently problem solve and manage changing situations

● Exemplifies the core values, mission and purpose of Hope Haven when interacting with participants, families, staff, volunteers and community partners

● Excellent organizational skills

● Able to work independently and harmoniously as part of the Hope Haven Team

● Experience working with individuals with disabilities of any age an asset

● Ability to step into any volunteer role as required

Education and Training:

● Minimum of High School Diploma

First Aid/CPR certification is an asset
