Role Purpose:
This is a critical role on our Vineyard Leadership Team. This role is responsible for building and managing vineyards in Creston, BC, including implementing and following viticulture programs to ensure grape quality and yield targets are met.
Accountabilities & Impact:
- Plan, schedule, and manage safe and productive work activities in the vineyards, including maintaining irrigation systems and managing frost control programs.
- Working with the Senior Vineyard Manager to create vineyard budget and manage the vineyard costs to the budget plan.
- Provide understanding and insight of efficiencies and cost saving opportunities and techniques to employees.
- Operate machinery, and train others in safe equipment operation.
- Work alongside vineyard workers while doing such activities as planting, pruning, suckering, thinning, spraying, and picking.
- Responsible for the training and development of vineyard team members, setting standards and evaluating employee’s performance.
Skills & Experiences Needed:
- 10+ years progressive vineyard experience.
- 5+ years’ experience leading and training vineyard teams.
- 5 years’ experience operating vineyard equipment including tractors, sprayers and machine harvesters.
- Solid knowledge of all vineyard procedures and practices including planting, pruning, harvesting, and irrigation systems.
- Intermediate Computer skills; MS Office, Suite, Word, Excel.
- Team Player
- Valid BC Driver’s License.
