The Opportunity

Ulteig is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Associate Project Manager for Municipal Water/Wastewater projects in both design and construction phases working remotely supporting our team based out of Burlington, Ontario. The Associate Project Manager will be responsible for coordinating with Senior Project Management staff in executing the day-to-day tasks of various projects between development and construction phases, and would be responsible for contract administration, contractor bid analysis, construction estimating, and preparation of project for execution in a cost-effective manner, in accordance with requirements and standards as set forth in the project contract(s).

What You’ll Do

  • Responsible for the overall management of the project scope, schedule and cost
  • Accountable for key project decision making
  • Manages a collaborative project team to ensure each key functional project discipline is meeting the planned project scope, schedule and cost
  • Responsible for leading project meetings
  • Point person for contract negotiation and management
  • Accountable to develop, update and manage the project plan
  • Coordinate communication and provides status updates to stakeholders as required
  • Assess project risk and proactively develop mitigation plans
  • Proactively manages project requests for information and action items
  • Work collaboratively with the Project Controls team to ensure project schedules and costs are managed and tracking to plan
  • Responsible for leading projects through all internal and external processes
  • Ensure availability or seeks out adequate resources to support the project
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Demonstrates excellent leadership, verbal/written communications, time management, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Consistently produces results that meet goals, has high work standards, and understands the business environment and processes
  • Achieves results by problem solving, setting priorities and organization
  • Maintains customer focus to meet or exceed customer expectations and represent Ulteig in a professional and courteous manner
  • Strives for individual excellence by seeking challenges and self -development, demonstrating high levels of expertise and showing commitment, self-confidence and integrity

What We Expect from You

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management and/or a Minimum of 2 years of Comparable Field Experience. 4-6 years of related experience preferred.
  • Direct project management experience with Municipal Water/Wastewater capital projects
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and construction specifications/manuals
  • Ability to read and understand construction and procurement contracts
  • Knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Office, MS Project/Primavera and Procore
  • Ability to establish and maintain highly effective working relationships with owners’ representatives, contractors, vendors and others on and off the job site

  • Ensure adherence to client’s Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs
  • Report, track, and resolve non-conformance issues in coordination with QA/QC
