POSITION: Associate Supervisor/Public Service Clerk (Competition #2024-31)
LOCATION: Various Library Locations (south branches)
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Permanent Part-time (hours vary/casual; 0-20 hrs/wk)
REPORTING TO: Rural Community Librarian

WAGE RANGE:Associate Supervisor: $28.10/hr - $35.13/hr
Public Service Clerk : $24.55/hr - $30.69/hr

POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a casual position requiring flexible availability to fill-in at any branch location as either a Public Service Clerk or Associate Supervisor.
Public Service Clerk
As first-contact customer service representatives, Public Service Clerks are responsible for providing excellent customer service to all members of the community. This position provides basic circulation, informational and technology support for customers; as well as literacy-based programs and activities to promote library services for all ages.
Associate Supervisor
Maintains the day-to-day operations of a library branch in the absence of the Rural Community Librarian or Branch Supervisor. Associate Supervisors are not assigned to a particular branch library and are expected to be available to work on short notice. All Oxford County Library (OCL) employees are responsible for supporting the OCL’s values statement by supporting and promoting a welcoming environment, lifelong learning and innovation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Secondary school completion. Post-secondary education preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working in a library environment and previous supervisory experience is an asset. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Experience providing customer service. Previous library experience is an asset.
- Ability to work with key stakeholders to deliver programs and services.
- Ability to show sensitivity and respect for all customers.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to assess customer needs.
- Advanced computer proficiency, including familiarity with and adaptability to new technologies. Knowledge of library software/ILS and systems are strongly recommended.
- Ability to demonstrate the required competencies for this position in alignment with Oxford County’s competency framework.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, prioritize multiple deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team.
- Knowledge of relevant trends, legislation and regulations.
- Valid Ontario drivers’ license required and /or availability to travel to different branch locations at short notice
