Job description

The Booking Agent works in collaboration with the Operations Manager, River Manager, Trip Leaders, and Van Drivers to maintain the daily tours. This individual is the first point of contact for most customers, and must ensure high levels of customer service, organization, and efficiency. The position requires familiarity with all internal company tours, in order to effectively answer general questions about any trip.

SEASONALITY

The Booking Agent can expect to work a 5-day work schedule during the summer (peak) season (from mid/end of June to beginning of September) and will require working weekends, such as Thursday – Monday, or similar. The peak season schedule is subject to change, as needed. 40-hrs a week can be expected.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Communicate with customers in-person, on the phone, and via email.
  • Take bookings and payments from customers (cash and credit cards).
  • Communicate to all customers accurate and relevant information about their tour.
  • Have a working knowledge of the booking system (Checkfront) – training is provided.
  • Accurately fill out daily trip reports for the river crew
  • Work in combination with the river team to make sure inventory is accurate for the current day and future tours.
  • Maintain a good relationship with company partners and stakeholders.
  • Continuously develop knowledge of Canmore Raft Tours tours, policies and procedures, and reservation system.
  • Other projects and duties as necessary or assigned.

PERFORMANCE PROFILE

  • Ability to ask the right questions to discover guests' needs; exceptional listening skills
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Highly organized; proficient basic math skills, with a focus on detail and accuracy.
  • Effective time management; proficient at multitasking.
  • Be a team player.
  • Intermediate/advanced computer, tablet and mobile phone knowledge a requirement.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Demands

  • Long hours sitting/standing and using office equipment and computers.
  • Some lifting of supplies and materials

Environmental Conditions

  • The Canmore Raft Tours "Raft Shack" is an open sided outdoor space, exposed to the ever-changing mountain weather. It's busy with both walk-up, and call-in bookings where interruptions are frequent.
  • Scheduled, and unscheduled meetings with co-workers and managers are customary.

COMPENSATION

Starting at $18/hr (can be negotiable depending on experience)

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 4 months

Salary: From $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
