The Yorkton Branch Manager, under the supervision of the Regional Director, is responsible for overseeing operations at the Regional Reference Centre (Yorkton Public Library), including staffing, training, programming, community relations, facilities management, and liaising with the City of Yorkton. Employees in this class have a high degree of independence within their duties and have considerable autonomy. This position oversees the Yorkton Public Library staff and works directly with regional library staff, City of Yorkton staff, vendors, and members of the public.
Duties & Responsibilities:- Supervise library services at YorktonPublic Library.
- Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, andevaluate Yorkton Public Library staff.
- Direct Yorkton Public Library staff inthe fulfillment of library operations.
- Monitor and evaluate Yorkton PublicLibrary performance, identifying and implementing improvements to facilitiesand operations.
- Maintain high standards for libraryservices, including providing library materials, research and education,facility services, technology use, and programming.
- Oversee and manage library facilitiesand materials.
- Continue development and implementationof branch strategic vision in line with Parkland Regional Library, the YorktonPublic Library Board, and the City of Yorkton.
- Work closely with the Branch ServicesSupervisor and Collection Manager to implement Parkland Regional Library andSaskatchewan Library policies and procedures.
- Liaise with the Yorkton Public LibraryBoard and designated City of Yorkton staff with regard to facility management,maintenance, material support, and library programming.
- Cultivate and maintain strongrelationships with patrons, local community organizations, service providers,schools, provincial and municipal departments, and other groups in the Yorktonarea.
- Develop and manage Yorkton PublicLibrary operations budget in line with City of Yorkton financial policy andprocedures.
- Identify and implement marketing andsocial media strategies to inform and engage with patrons and the publicregarding library activities and achievements.
- Advocate for Yorkton Public Library at the municipal and regional level, promoting the library and ensuring its continued improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- MLIS or other relevant graduate degree preferred
- Library clerk/library technician diploma and/or otherrelevant post-secondary qualification
- A candidate working on their MLIS, especially with additional experience inlibrary operations, facility and staff management, budgeting, material support,and library programming would be considered a viable candidate.
- · At least two years management or supervisoryexperience
- At least two years experience in library operations
- Thorough knowledge of library methodologies,procedures, techniques, trends, administration, and management
- Ability to oversee and supervise staff
- Experience in program development and projectmanagement
- Experience with budgeting and fiscal controls
- Ability to work with considerable independence andcollaboratively
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask and meet firm deadlines
- Criminal records check required.
- Experience with staff supervision/management
- Experience with community relations and relationshipbuilding
- Knowledge of current librarytrends
